Bury Archives


Bury Archives hold most of the Ramsbottom Heritage Society's documents and photographs collected over the last 40 years


Crow Lane Project

 


The Crow Lane project involved local residents in researching the history of their house. It was led by Kate Slingsby in 2003 and the website pages are those created at the time.

 


Dickens and Ramsbottom

 


As part of the 25th Anniversary exhibition in 2012, members of the Heritage Society researched the relationship between Dickens and Ramsbottom, and whether the Cherryble Brothers were based on the Grant Brothers.


Kibboth Crew Dig

 


The site of a Fulling Mill dating back to 1710

The dig, hosted by the landowners John and Gill Wild, was organised by The Ramsbottom Heritage Society, and managed and supervised by the University of Manchester Archaeology Unit (UMAU). Forty-nine local volunteers worked on the site in small groups, for three weeks from April 16th to May 4th  2007.


Mills Research


Kath Haddock researched the history of Ramsbottom's mills in 2009


Scout Moor 


In 2004 and 2025  there was a project to photgraph Scout Moor before the wind turbines were installed
