SPRING VALE MILL

Formerly the Edenfield Brewery, which closed following its acquisition by John Kenyon Ltd of Cloughfold in 1913.
1915 Edenfield Size Manufacturing Co started making size in the old brewery buildings. Company opened a garage on the open space at the front.
1940 Thomas Aitken & Son Ltd of Irwell Vale Mill acquired the property which they re-modelled and re-named Spring Vale Mill. They ran the mill for more than twenty years.
1958 Closed the mill and transferred the machinery to LUMB and IRWELL VALE MILLS but the following year Spring Vale was re-opened as the winding and doubling section.
1962 Closed again and bought by CWS for use as a warehouse in connection with the footwear factory at Britannia Mill Haslingden.
1972 Brown & Forth, a small firm of chemical merchants moved in and stayed until 1999 when old brewery buildings were again up for sale.
2002 demolition began with plans to build houses.
